Origin-destination dependent train scheduling problem with stop-skipping for urban rail transit systems

چکیده
The train scheduling problem with the origin-destination (O-D) dependent passenger demands is considered for urban rail transit systems. In this paper, trains are allowed to skip any intermediate stations (except the origin station and the final station) to reduce the passenger travel time and to save energy consumption. A model of train movements with stop-skipping and the O-D dependent passenger demands is formulated. A bi-level optimization approach is proposed to solve the train scheduling problem with stopskipping, which is essentially a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem. The performance of the proposed approach is illustrated via a case study using data of the Beijing Yizhuang subway line. Wang, De Schutter, van den Boom, Ning, Tang 3

Performance Analysis of Stop-Skipping Scheduling Plans in Rail Transit under Time-Dependent Demand
Stop-skipping is a key method for alleviating congestion in rail transit, where schedules are sometimes difficult to implement. Several mechanisms have been proposed and analyzed in the literature, but very few performance comparisons are available. This study formulated train choice behavior estimation into the model considering passengers' perception. If a passenger's train path can be identi...

In the context of public transportation system, improving the service quality and robustness through minimizing the average passengers waiting time is a real challenge. This study provides robust stochastic programming models for train timetabling problem in urban rail transit systems. The objective is minimization of the weighted summation of the expected cost of passenger waiting time, its va...

متن کاملA Decision Support System for Urban Journey Planning in Multimodal Public Transit Network
The goal of this paper is to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) as a journey planner in complex and large multimodal urban network called Rahyar. Rahyar attempts to identify the most desirable itinerary among all feasible alternatives. The desirability of an itinerary is measured by a disutility function, which is defined as a weighted sum of some criteria. The weight...

There is a great need for estimation of passenger flow temporal and spatial distribution in urban rail transit network. The literature review indicates that passenger flow assignment models considering capacity constraints with overload delay factor for in-vehicle crowding are limited in schedule-based network. This paper proposes a stochastic user equilibrium model for solving the assignment p...
